Team Information

The Oakland Athletics, based in Oakland, Calif., participate in Major League Baseball (MLB) and are a member of the American League West Division. The Athletics were founded as the Philadelphia Athletics in 1901, then became the Kansas City Athletics in 1955 and finally the Oakland Athletics in 1968. Since 1968, the Athletics have played their home games at McAfee Coliseum previously known as Alameda County Coliseum and Network Associates Coliseum. The club has won nine World Series Championships (1910, 1911, 1913, 1929, 1930, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1989).
