Phillies' Mark Leiter: Named Wednesday's starter
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Leiter was confirmed as the starting pitcher for Wednesday's game against the Mariners, Jim Salisbury of CSN Philadelphia reports.

With Jerad Eickhoff (back) not quite ready to return to the rotation, Leiter will get another chance to start in his place. The 26-year-old impressed in his first spot start for the Phillies, allowing just three hits and a walk while striking out five batters in six scoreless frames against a potent Diamondbacks offense. He'll look to keep it up against a hot-hitting Seattle offense that has scored the most runs in the majors this month.

Phillies' Jerad Eickhoff: Will miss another start
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Eickhoff (back) won't be activated from the 10-day disabled list in advance of his next scheduled start Wednesday against the Mariners, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

Though Eickhoff (back) was able to resume throwing off a mound Sunday, he either didn't feel 100 percent during the session or will need to make a rehab start in the minors before getting clearance to rejoin the Phillies. With Eickhoff seemingly out of commission until at least next week, Mark Leiter will receive a second straight nod in his stead after covering six shutout innings in his first MLB start.

Phillies' Ricardo Pinto: Recalled by Phillies
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Pinto was recalled by the Phillies on Monday.

Pinto had a tough major league debut in a relief appearance with the Phillies earlier this season, allowing four earned runs on six hits over two innings. Nonetheless, he'll get another shot to prove his worth as he replaces the struggling Edubray Ramos in the bullpen. Pinto, only 23, has a 4.39 ERA over 15 appearances (eight starts) at Triple-A this year and will likely see limited usage in the early going.

Phillies' Edubray Ramos: Optioned down to minors
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Ramos was optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Monday.

Ramos has been atrocious over his last five appearances, allowing nine earned runs over just 1.1 innings and suffering four losses in that span. It's been a rapid downfall for the young right-hander, who had a 3.03 ERA prior to that stretch and was emerging as one of the more reliable setup arms in the Philadelphia bullpen. He'll get a chance to refine his mechanics in the minors as Ricardo Pinto takes his place on the roster.

Phillies' Tommy Joseph: Gets rare day off Monday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Joseph is not in the lineup Monday against the Diamondbacks, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

Joseph's absence is a rare occurence, the first baseman has started every game this month and has only missed four games all season. However, in light of his 1-for-9 slump over the past three games, Monday's matinee appeared to be an ideal time for a mental break. Brock Stassi will fill the void at first base.
