Rangers' Jose Trevino: Returns for Frisco
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Trevino (hand) is back in action with Double-A Frisco and is hitting .297/.333/.378 with one home run, one steal and a 4:2 K:BB in 37 at-bats.

He left a game on April 14 after getting hit in the hand by a pitch, but returned April 24 and has continued his strong start for the RoughRiders. The 24-year-old backstop doesn't profile as much of a fantasy force, but most evaluators think he has a big-league future, with a realistic floor as a backup catcher.

Rangers' Nick Martinez: Delivers quality start en route to no-decision
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Martinez allowed three runs on five hits with no walks across six innings Friday in a no-decision against the Angels. He struck out seven.

Martinez was solid in his second start of the season, throwing 66 percent of his pitches for strikes and delivering uncharacteristic strikeout totals. His only real mistakes came back to haunt him, however, and came in the form of a solo home run by Yunel Escobar in the first inning and a two-run shot by Mike Trout in the sixth. The Rangers have been desperate for solid starting pitching this season and Martinez has been just that over 13 innings, with a 2.77 ERA, a 0.77 WHIP and a 6.9 K/9. He is not currently scheduled to make another start at this level, but the results have been so positive that the club could elect to alter their rotation to incorporate him.

Rangers' Sam Dyson: Pitches scoreless inning in return to mound
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Dyson returned to the mound by retiring three of the four hitters faced after entering Friday's game in the ninth inning with Texas trailing 6-3.

Dyson was tasked with getting out the top of the Angels' order, allowing just an infield single to Mike Trout, in his first game back since coming off the DL earlier in the day. He'll continue to be worked back into the bullpen mix, though it's unlikely he'll be looked upon to pick up any saves for the next little bit at a minimum. He's worth a grab and stash in deeper formats with deeper benches if he was dropped earlier however.

Rangers' Chi Chi Gonzalez: MRI set for Thursday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Gonzalez will have have an MRI taken on his injured elbow Thursday, Stefan Stevenson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

Gonzalez, who is on the 60-day DL with a partial UCL tear, could begin a throwing program in the near future if the MRI reveals significant progress in his elbow. His status should be updated further once the results of the tests are known.

Rangers' Brett Nicholas: Activated from disabled list
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Nicholas (knee) was activated from the 10-day disabled list on Friday and optioned to Triple-A Round Rock.

After undergoing surgery in March for a torn meniscus in his left knee and getting through a success rehab assignment earlier this week, Nicholas is now on the verge of concluding his recovery. He'll look to provide the Rangers with some organizational catching depth.
