J.P. Arencibia might not get a lot of starts in September
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com

With Ryan Rua expected to see the majority of playing time at first base in September and Jim Adduci close to coming off the disabled list, the Rangers might not have a lot of starts to give J.P. Arencibia down the stretch, according to MLB.com.

"It's obvious what they want to do," Arencibia said. "I get it. They want to look at young guys and see what they can do. I have been around enough. When I came back from Triple-A playing every day, my numbers were there."

Arencibia hit .262 with six home runs and 20 RBI in his first 17 games following his promotion after the All-Star break. Unfortunately, he entered play Sunday mired in a 5-for-50 slump.

"The only thing I can do is come in every day and take it day by day," Arencibia said. "It's out of my hands. I can't dictate what they do with me. That's their decision. When I came back after the All-Star break, you saw the production. When I stopped playing, it made it tougher, that's the bottom line. When I was playing every day, the numbers are the numbers."

Robbie Ross settles for no-decision
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com

Rangers pitcher Robbie Ross wasn't a factor into the decision Saturday against Houston. The right-hander issued three walks and struck out five in five no-hit innings of a 2-0 defeat. Phil Klein took over for him and allowed two unearned runs in the seventh.

Ross lowered his ERA from 6.06 to 5.63 on the year. It remains to be seen if he'll remain on the big-league roster or if he'll be sent back down to Triple-A Round Rock.
