Rangers' Josh Hamilton: Goes under knife Monday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hamilton (knee) underwent arthroscopic surgery Monday to repair the meniscus in his left knee, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.

As expected, the veteran outfielder had another procedure performed on his knee to try to right the ship and get him back into playing shape. The current timetable has Hamilton rehabbing for six weeks prior to running again, so it seems that any hopes of playing on Opening Day are out of the question. A firmer return date should come forth as he recovers from this operation.

Rangers' Adrian Beltre: Still uncertain about WBC
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Beltre (calf) is still unsure if he'll be ready to play for the Dominican Republic in the first round of the WBC, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

The 38-year-old is dealing with a grade 1 calf strain, and has been bothered by calf issues in the past, but he's noted his desire to play in the WBC because it will likely be his last opportunity. Beltre said his calf has improved, but hasn't run on it hard enough to know if he will be good enough to play by Mar. 9. With his age and previous calf issues, it's a situation to monitor. Even if he is unable to play in the first round of the tournament, he could still be available if the Dominican Republic make it out of their group.

Rangers' Josh Hamilton: Likely to have another knee surgery
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hamilton (knee) is headed to Houston to have his knee examined Monday and will likely need to have more surgery on his left knee, TR Sullivan of MLB.com reports.

This is tough news for the 35-year-old, who was looking to return to the majors after missing all of 2016 recovering from a torn ACL on the same left knee. It's unknown how serious it is, but there is a good chance Hamilton may never be healthy enough to play in the majors again.

Rangers' Elvis Andrus: Will ramp up running next week
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Andrus (groin) says he will ramp up his running next week as he continues his recovery from sports hernia surgery, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

Andrus has been running at only 50 percent speed thus far, a precautionary measure as he eases back into action. The shortstop is already participating in all baseball activities and is expected to participate in a live game sometime within the coming month. It appears Andrus is well on the road back to full health, but it's worth monitoring the situation as spring camp progresses.

Rangers' Jurickson Profar: Will play outfield in WBC
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Netherlands manager Hensley Meulens said Profar will work as an outfielder in the World Baseball Classic, Peter Gammons of Gammons Daily reports.

Gammons also confirms previous reports that Profar will start in the Rangers outfield against right-handed pitching. Working in left field during the WBC should help him hone a position he fleetingly has played before. With his new clear-cut opportunity, Profar, named the No. 1 prospect in baseball for the 2013 season, is worth a dice roll in deep fantasy leagues as a post-hype sleeper entering his age-24 season.
