The Cubs are so clearly the class of the NL Central that you don't look for reasons why they can win it, you look for reasons why they can't. The only reason I can think of, aside from injuries to their pitching staff (but that's the case with all 30 clubs), is if Milton Bradley can't out-run his injury history. Or if he snaps. Maybe Bradley can find peace of mind on a multi-year contract. He's played in more than 126 games in a season just once -- if he can make it for 140 or 150, look out. Wait, I just thought of one more reason the Cubs could stumble: Their bullpen. Carlos Marmol was shaky this spring, and Kevin Gregg remains largely an unknown. Still, these Cubs are primed for another 90-plus win season, and with lefty bats Bradley, Mike Fontenot, Kosuke Fukudome and Aaron Miles, their lineup is better balanced for October.
In case anyone didn't see that it was on. The rising stars game from the AFL will be on both MLBnetwork and MLB.com tonight at 8:15. Might be a good chance for some of you guys to get a look at Starlin Castro and Josh Vitters, amongst other

They were saying on MLBTraderumors that Stephen Drew will probably be put on the trading block,so why not trade for Drew and move Theriot over to 2nd,Drew would add a left hand bat to the lineup. Then the Cubs could spend the money on decent bullpen help for the first time

The Cubs need to go after Dan Uggla to fill 2B. There are zero candidates available thru free agency that would fit what the Cubs need. Trade some young talent to the Marlins for Uggla and soon since
This article was released this morning on MLBtraderumors.com and here's a quote...."It's early on, but we think this one has some legs," said one Cubs official. "But they aren't the only team we are talking with."
Alright... First of all, enough already with all of these posts saying, oh, the Cubs should trade for Dan Uggla, or bring in a guy like Carl Crawford, thats just not going to happen. No team is

Did any body notice that the great and almighty Al Yellon of Bleed Cubbie Blue is on the Aaron Rowand bandwagon hardcore. His trade scenario is the best I have heard yet. He think the Cubs can trade

B.A. has started posting their team by team prospect list for 2010. So far only the Braves and Mets are listed, but the Cubs will be up on November 16.
As some of you may remember, I made this post last year in an attempt to put the Cubs in the best position possible heading into 2009 while staying within budget (I put the Cubs at $136 million under my plan, nearly $2 million less than their Opening Day payroll commitments). Hendry followed some of my recommendations (trading

Bruce Levine said this yesterday in his ESPN chat and Chris DeLuca confirmed it in his article today (though he wrote $143 million), leaving Jim Hendry roughly $8 million to work with after he tenders contracts to players currently on the active roster. My advice? Keep the payroll as low as possible and cut it, if at all possible. Learn from 2009 and leave yourself breathing room to menuver around

I have read numerous places that the Mets are interested in trying to move Carlos Beltran and the 36 million that is due to him over the next two years. It is also fairly publicized that they are one of the many teams that are interested in trading for

Today being the last day of the Cubs 2009 season, I've decided to celebrate by posting a few of the things that I think will happen this offseason. Feel free to bust me over the head for things you think I have wrong, but I expect hearty congratulations for the things I have right. Just kidding, but I think this will make for some good d
This guy must be a democrat,I haven't heard that much BS come out of someone's mouth since the presidental election, its all propaganda and hype just to sell tickets like always,I saw a article where Hendry might be up to his same old trick of overpaying for players,2 years between 6.5 to 7.5 million for Grabow, for that kind of money they could do a lot better with
