Scott Miller's Take
The Cubs are so clearly the class of the NL Central that you don't look for reasons why they can win it, you look for reasons why they can't. The only reason I can think of, aside from injuries to their pitching staff (but that's the case with all 30 clubs), is if Milton Bradley can't out-run his injury history. Or if he snaps. Maybe Bradley can find peace of mind on a multi-year contract. He's played in more than 126 games in a season just once -- if he can make it for 140 or 150, look out. Wait, I just thought of one more reason the Cubs could stumble: Their bullpen. Carlos Marmol was shaky this spring, and Kevin Gregg remains largely an unknown. Still, these Cubs are primed for another 90-plus win season, and with lefty bats Bradley, Mike Fontenot, Kosuke Fukudome and Aaron Miles, their lineup is better balanced for October.
Ichiro Suzuki is due 54M through 2012. Felix Hernandez is free agent eligable after the 2011 season. Who is currently the face of the franchise? Is it completely purposterous to consider moving

Jim Hendry would NOT do this trade from what I'm reading and I personally would not give up Marmol and Castro together. How many Cub fans would? Castro is already a 19 yr old legend and Marmol is becoming a real closer and developing a closer personality, but it's taken awhile ... Castro has not even been evaluated yet. We should at least do that before we decide his

Today being the last day of the Cubs 2009 season, I've decided to celebrate by posting a few of the things that I think will happen this offseason. Feel free to bust me over the head for things you think I have wrong, but I expect hearty congratulations for the things I have right. Just kidding, but I think this will make for some good d
I just read a article saying Bud Selig is stepping down after the 2011 season, all I can say is thank God,baseball will finally get rid of this ass clown,Its kind of funny that he's stepping down right before the new collective bargaining needs to be struck,I think he doesn't want anything to do with it,he probably knows there a good chance that there won't be a 2012 season, because the players unio

Rumor, rumor, rumor!!!! Is there any team out there that really wants Milton Bradley? If there is, are the Cubs only making a bad contract trade and only going to get someone else they don't need or have to look to trade that player also? I'm really starting to feel this w

Bedard is coming off another shoulder injury, and could likely be had for 2 years at a relatively low contract. He likely will not be ready to start throwing until January or February, but might be able to make it back to the bigs by August or September. He could be the perfect replacement if the Cubs do not resign

I just saw the salaries of our players for the 2009 season and it made me FURIOUS to think that we didnt at least make the playoffs thislast year. I know I'll get some flack for this but @##$!! Our line up is RIDDLED with players making 12,14,18 million per year. I mean come on people....now I see why you are hearing boos at Wrigley. Our corner outfielders are making 21 million next year ...a
