Danny Knobler's Take
The question marks at the start of spring training are still question marks now. The pitching staff that worried you at the beginning of spring worries you just as much now. Jeremy Bonderman still hasn’t proven that he can bounce back from surgery, Nate Robertson still hasn’t proven that he’s better than he was in 2008 and Dontrelle Willis never did prove anything. But rookies Rick Porcello and Ryan Perry should give the Tigers a lift, and the lineup still should score plenty of runs. Look for Miguel Cabrera to have a huge year. One key: Can Fernando Rodney or Brandon Lyon emerge as a decent closer?
Free-swinging ways hold him back, but he has 20-20 potential long term.
Miguel Cabrera, the 2008 AL home run champ, has tallied 30 or more homers in four of the past five seasons. He's tallied 112 or more RBI in all five. (AP)
Well lets see Rosenthall now putting out the Tigers trading cabrerra to the Sox for paplebon and some prospects. The guy from the NY daily news started the whole Granderson to New york for some garbage. I really haven't heard the owner say slash payroll. Only a few writers have said the Tigers would listen to offers for granderson, laird an

So what's the word on this front? I've read a few reports that we are shopping Miggy around the league. I'm starting to think that the Granderson and Jackson rumors were designed to open up the lines of communication to get rid of Miggy without exposing that we are desperately seeking to dump him for prospects. I think that his drunken stunts and overall punk attitude are a littl

I'm still waiting for the apology and explanation that I (as a Tigers fan) are due for the lamebrain mistakes he has made. Where is my apology and explanation for letting go Edgar Renteria for Adam Everett (total downgrade on the offensive side, with NO improvement def

The AFL tends to be a hitters league so when pitchers dominate it is noteworthy. So the team the Tigers are on ( javelinas) won the championship this afternoon. So here is a recap all Tiger prospects played.
Andrew oliver clocked at 96.6 for his max fastball ( tied as highest for lefties) and his average at 93.83 while Robbie weinhardt topped out at 95.2 with an average of 93.44. For weinhardt seems to be a slight increase velocity as scouts had him in the 90-92 coming into the draft. I believe this is the first season the system has been at most if not all sites. It will be intersting to see the rota

Well the deadline is tuesday at midnight for offering FA's arbitration, so we will not know until wednesday. The no brainers are that jarod washburn and aubrey Huff who have been told the Tigers are not intertested. As for the other 3 there are risks. First off the basics are the Tigers should they offer arbitration and the player leaves ge

Well the the Tigers in the AFL ( Javelinas) will have the championship game on saturday ( MLB network), but today was the final regular season game. here is what we have.
Andrew oliver. 1-1 2.81 ERA 16K 9 BB all in relief. After giving up 4 ER in his debut, he allowed 1 ER in his last 15 IP. He appears t

I just saw that Dave Dombrowski has let it be known that he is willing to trade Edwin Jackson. Yes! Edwin Jackson might be traded this offseason to create payroll flexibility. What position would you like to see them fill if they are successful in trading Jackson. Yes, they do have

Tigers have elected to offer arbitration to Brandon lyon and Fernando Rodney, however not Placido Polanco. What that means is that Scott Sizemoore (308 BA/851 OPS AAA Toledo) will be the starting 2B in detroit in 2010. The door is open for Rodney and or lyon to return. I really wouldn expect both to decline and seek multi year deals.
I really don't understand why the Tigers don't use Willis as a platooning outfielder? I mean the guy can hit. He used to pinch hit all the time in Florida. The man is marvelous athlete and can probably hit the ball better than pitching at the moment. I would be curious to hear an official statement out of the Tiger organization of why they

Hmmm. It appears the Phillies should they not sign Figgins ( $$$) may turn to a former phil to play the corner ( even though a couple posters scoffed when I suggested Sizemoore at 2B and polanco at 3B in 2010). This would make the trade look even more insane.
Tigers prospect Ron Bourquin who would have been eligible for the rule 5 draft was suspended 50 games for amphetimines and not PED. Is a grad of the fine Ohio State University ( feel free to comment) and actually had a pretty decent season at low class A. However drafted in 2006 in the second round, should have been higher than starting at
