--OF Bobby Abreu went 0-for-1 with three walks Friday. He needs two hits to reach 2,000 in his career. When he gets there, he will be the fifth player to reach the 2,000-hit milestone while wearing an Angels uniform, joining Garret Anderson, Vladimir Guerrero, Reggie Jackson and Chili Davis. Only Anderson got all 2,000 hits as an Angel.

--OF Juan Rivera drove in the Angels' first run of the game Friday with a ninth-inning single. It was his 14th RBI in the past 19 games. Rivera is batting .352 (25 for 71) over that stretch.

--Angels starters have allowed just four runs over 22 2/3 innings in the past three games (a 1.59 ERA). Jered Weaver, John Lackey and Ervin Santana have struck out more batters (23) than they've allowed hits (16) in this stretch.

MEDICAL WATCH:

RHP Kelvim Escobar (right shoulder surgery in July 2008) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to April 4, and he was transferred to the 60-day DL on April 22. He started pitching in extended spring training in mid-May. He began a rehab assignment with Class A Rancho Cucamonga on May 22, and he is expected to be activated June 6.

RHP Scot Shields (left knee tendinitis) went on the 15-day disabled list May 26.

RHP Dustin Moseley (nerve irritation in right elbow) went on the 15-day disabled list April 18. He had a setback in mid-May during his rehab at extended spring training. He was cleared to start light throwing in late May but was shut down again because of pain traveling from his neck to his elbow.

First off i would like to say goodbye to vladdy. Thank you for yor loyal service to this orgnization.

Here is what I think the front office should do this offseason:

PLAN A: Resign figgins, sign Matt Holliday, and sign john garland. let lackey walk. we will put together a deal for an ace if needed later in the season similar to kazmir. bols

The Angels should do everything they can to keep Lackey, and yes if that means paying him $18 million a year for 5 years then do it.  My reasons are simple, for one show some loyalty to a guy who has done nothing but get better each year he has been with us. Two, Lackey is a clutch big game big situation pitcher. Three, Lackey has a ba ...(more)

MLBTRADERUMORS just reported that granderson has become a possibilty for a trade... I think the Angels showed look very closely into this... they could eat GMJ contract and replace him with granderson ... This would allow figgy to walk and wood to play third full time...
this gives us a 5 tool lead off hitter and moves juan rivera to

Hello Angel fans.   I have a friend that lives in Chicago and he just told me that the Angels and Cubs are in trade talks.  Since the ANGELS are going to loose C Figgins to free agency and want another outfielder  just in case of injury, they are thowing ...(more)

I'm glad they signed Abreu. Now we need to re-sign John Lackey. I do not care what the cost is, Keep in mind that John Lackey has been our bull dog since 2002. He is a clutch pitcher and we need to show him some loyalty. Boras is not his agent, so I think if they brought him in expressed how much he means to us and get a deal don ...(more)

Fuentes,Shields & Putz would be outstanding...
Putz power pitching is more condusive to the 9th inning situations, sometimes needing a k....
Fuentes & Shields set up & give the halos many options w/ their versatile arms...
The pen would get longer w/ these 3 guys...
No disrespect to Fuentes,he did a good job...I just think a power arm like Smith,Percy,K-Rod  i.e

The Angels enter the off season with $50 million in expiring contracts. The club, roughly, had a payroll of $114M in 2009. I will give my suggestions on what the team needs to do as they prepare for 2010. Note: Age in parenthesis, money they made in 2009.

Vladimir Guererro (35) $15M - Vladdy had a good po ...(more)

Well it only took one world series game to see what the Angels could have had if they weren't so afraid and cheap. Lee was one of the available aces that they could have pick up. lee and lackey would have been a one two punch that would have beat the Yanks. Well of cost they pass on him and now we are alll watching the series. learn your le ...(more)

Yes, we didn't go all the way, but I am still very proud of how well this team did this season. After the start to the season, this team could have just quit and stopped trying for the rest of the year. But they were on a mission to win the division, and hopefully win the world series. Well, they won the division, beat the Red Sox (somethin ...(more)

I have seen and heard these possablities involving the Angels.  First Toronto and the Angels talking trade with (P) R Holladay coming to the Angels for (RP) J Arredondo, (OF) G Matthews Jr and (P) R Rodriguez.  That would give the ANGELS a replacement for the possable departing of (P) J LACKEY but also J Lackey said that he p ...(more)

Every website I go to, the Angels salary for 2009 is $118mil.  Now this does not count the $10mil that was owed to Escobar.  Since he was on the DL, did he still get this amount?  As far I see it, the seven free agent Angels made over $50mil before bonuses.  Thats $50mil to play with in the free agent market.  Yes, ...(more)
