--Angels pitchers threw six wild pitches Monday -- two each by starter Matt Palmer and reliever Rich Thompson, one each by Rafael Rodriguez and Jason Bulger. That ties the franchise record set on April 13, 1991 in Minnesota.
--The Angels' only run Monday came on a solo home run by 1B Kendry Morales in the fourth inning. It was Morales' 12th home run of the season. The switch-hitter has hit all 12 from the left side, where he is batting .292 (56 for 192) with 33 RBIs. In limited playing time, Morales is batting only .191 (9 for 47) with three RBIs as a right-handed hitter.
--The Angels were among several teams who scouted three-time Cy Young Award winner Pedro Martinez in the Dominican Republic last week. But they were apparently unimpressed. Angels GM Tony Reagins said the team had "no interest" in pursuing contract negotiations with Martinez.
--The Angels are establishing awards to honor the memories of two members of the organization who died this year. The Nick Adenhart Pitcher of the Year Award will go to the Angels' best pitcher over the course of the regular season as determined by a vote of his teammates. The Preston Gomez Minor-League Manager of the Year Award will be determined by the baseball operations staff each year.
--Lakers star Kobe Bryant attended Sunday's Angels-Dodgers game at Angel Stadium with his father, former NBA player Joe Bryant. The two sat behind the Dodgers' dugout (the first-base side), and fans chanted, "M-V-P!" when Bryant's image was shown on the scoreboard video screen.
