Angels report: Notes, quotes

Notes, quotes · Inside pitch · Roster

--DH Vladimir Guerrero has not progressed far enough in his throwing program to play the outfield this weekend and will be limited to pinch-hitting duty in the interleague series at a National League park. Guerrero could be ready to play the outfield in "the next couple weeks," according to Angels manager Mike Scioscia. Guerrero was 3-for-3 as a pinch-hitter last week in San Francisco. He popped out Friday night against the Diamondbacks.

--The Angels have outscored N.L. West teams 101-63 in their 16 interleague games through Friday. They have batted .304 (171 for 563) as a team with 27 home runs in interleague play. They have been even better with runners in scoring position in those games -- .337 (55 for 163).

--The Angels will have one player representing the organization in this year's Futures Game, part of the All-Star festivities in St. Louis. LHP Trevor Reckling, 20, has been included on the Team USA roster. Reckling is 4-2 with a 2.52 ERA since being promoted to Class AA Arkansas earlier this year. Opposing batters (some as many as five years older than Reckling) are hitting just .202 against him.

BY THE NUMBERS
10 -- Rookie pitchers used by the Angels this season, through June 21.

QUOTE TO NOTE
"It was fun to be a part of. But I'll be glad if it never happens again." -- RHP Jered Weaver, on being matched against older brother Jeff in Saturday's Angels-Dodgers game.
