Angels report: Notes, quotes
--The Angels finished the month of July with a .316 batting average and 185 runs scored. Both led the majors for the month. The 185 runs were the most they had scored in the month of July since scoring 201 during July 1995.
--RHP Sean O'Sullivan threw a no-hitter Tuesday for Class AAA Salt Lake in his first start since being demoted by the Angels. O'Sullivan had a perfect game through six innings, then walked the first batter in the seventh. That was the only baserunner he allowed. O'Sullivan (who is 3-0 in five starts with the Angels) struck out seven while throwing 122 pitches, 85 for strikes.
--RHP John Lackey is 5-1 with a 2.70 ERA and 36 strikeouts in 43 1/3 innings over six starts in July after his victory Wednesday.
--OF Torii Hunter was named to the "All-Metrodome Team" in Minnesota this week, part of the Twins' farewell season in the stadium. Hunter is on the disabled list and will not be able to play this weekend in his final visit to the Metrodome. Hunter spent the first 10 seasons of his career in Minnesota, winning seven Gold Gloves and making two All-Star teams.
BY THE NUMBERS
10 -- Hits by the Angels in their nine-run fourth inning against the Twins on July 25 (one short of the franchise record for hits in an inning).
