Angels report: Inside pitch
While spending 56 games on the disabled list this season, Vladimir Guerrero has had plenty of time to think about his future.
So he's apparently done with that.
"I missed a lot of time. I don't want to spend a lot of time thinking about me in the next two months," he said through an interpreter Thursday. "It (the rest of the season) is important for me and for the team. But I don't want to get too caught up thinking about that."
The next two months could be very important for Guerrero. It is his last chance to re-establish his credentials before heading onto the free agent market next winter. Between a torn pectoral muscle and a strained muscle behind his left knee, Guerrero's production has dropped to career-low marks.
"I try not to think about it too much because otherwise I would go crazy," Guerrero said of his frustrating season. "I thank God that I'm here and I'm playing baseball.
"We still have a couple months and we're trying to do some things as a team. Hopefully, it'll all go in the right direction."
In his first three games back, Guerrero went 3-for-11 with a home run in Thursday's victory over the White Sox.
ANGELS 9, WHITE SOX 5: The Angels offense returned to form just in time to avoid a sweep in Chicago. Jeff Mathis, Bobby Abreu, Erick Aybar and Vladimir Guerrero each hit home runs, and the Angels held on through another rocky start by Ervin Santana. The right-hander allowed four runs in the first three innings but settled down and shut the White Sox out through the next three.
