Angels report: Roster

Roster · Notes, quotes · Inside pitch

--RHP Ervin Santana allowed four runs, four hits and four walks in the first three innings of his start Thursday -- then no runs, one hit and one walk over the next three. Thirty-nine of the 58 runs Santana has allowed this season have scored in the first three innings of his starts. Fifty-four of the 90 hits he has allowed have come in those innings.

--OF Bobby Abreu's home run in the fifth inning Thursday was the 250th of his career. He is now one of only six players in major league history with at least 2,000 hits, 250 home runs, 1,000 walks, 1,000 runs, 1,000 RBIs and 300 stolen bases. The other five are Willie Mays, Rickey Henderson, Craig Biggio, Barry Bonds and Joe Morgan.

--Abreu's home run also extended his hitting streak to 12 games. Abreu is batting .476 (20-for-42) during the streak.

--RHPs Kelvim Escobar (shoulder surgery) and Dustin Moseley (hip, neck and arm injuries) probably won't return this season, manager Mike Scioscia said. "I don't know if these guys are going to be where they would be real functional parts (of a pitching staff)," Scioscia said.

MEDICAL WATCH:

CF Torii Hunter (strained adductor muscle in right groin) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to July 8. He is expected to begin a minor league rehab assignment by mid-August.

RHP Kelvim Escobar (right shoulder soreness) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to June 6, and he was transferred to the 60-day DL on July 24. He is out indefinitely.

RHP Dustin Moseley (nerve irritation in right elbow) went on the 15-day disabled list April 18, and he was transferred to the 60-day disabled list June 6. He had a setback in mid-May during his rehab at extended spring training. He was cleared to start light throwing in late May but was shut down again because of pain traveling from his neck to his elbow. He is out indefinitely.

RHP Scot Shields (left knee tendinitis) went on the 15-day disabled list May 26. He had season-ending surgery June 16 and was moved to the 60-day DL.
