--CF Torii Hunter began his minor league injury-rehabilitation assignment with Class A Rancho Cucamonga on Tuesday and went 0-for-2 with a walk while playing five innings in center field. Wednesday, he went 2-for-5 with a three-run homer in his second rehab game. He could rejoin the Angels in Baltimore this weekend.

--RHP Trevor Bell was the 13th different pitcher to start a game for the Angels this season when he made his major league debut Wednesday. Bell's grandfather, Bob Bell, was famous for playing Bozo the Clown on Chicago TV and Trevor has appeared as an actor in commercials.

--OF Bobby Abreu was hitless in five at-bats and went 2-for-22 on the six-game homestand. Since Vladimir Guerrero returned to the lineup, Abreu is 5-for-39 (.128) with four RBI in nine games. In the 21 games Guerrero missed with a leg injury, Abreu batted .393 (33-for-84) with 22 RBI.

MEDICAL WATCH:

SS Maicer Izturis (bruised right elbow) left the Aug. 11 game, and he didn't play Aug. 12.

CF Torii Hunter (strained adductor muscle in right groin) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to July 8. He began a rehab assignment with Class A Rancho Cucamonga on Aug. 11, and he is expected to rejoin the Angels on Aug. 14.

LHP Joe Saunders (left shoulder tightness) went on the 15-day disabled list Aug. 8.

RHP Kelvim Escobar (right shoulder soreness) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to June 6, and he was transferred to the 60-day DL on July 24. He is out indefinitely.

RHP Dustin Moseley (nerve irritation in right elbow) went on the 15-day disabled list April 18, and he was transferred to the 60-day disabled list June 6. He had a setback in mid-May during his rehab at extended spring training. He was cleared to start light throwing in late May but was shut down again because of pain traveling from his neck to his elbow. He is out indefinitely.

RHP Scot Shields (left knee tendinitis) went on the 15-day disabled list May 26. He had season-ending surgery June 16 and was moved to the 60-day DL.
