--RHP Ervin Santana held the A's to two runs in six innings but took his first loss in a month Thursday. It was only his second loss in 15 career starts against the A's. He is 10-2 with a 1.44 ERA in his career against Oakland.

--OF Torii Hunter extended his hitting streak to 13 games with a bunt single in the ninth inning Thursday. Hunter has hits in 33 of his past 36 games, wrapped around a 32-game stay on the disabled list with a groin injury. Hunter is batting .400 (22-for-55) during the season-high hitting streak.

--2B Maicer Izturis and SS Erick Aybar combined on a highlight-reel play in the seventh inning Thursday. Oakland C Kurt Suzuki hit a liner up the middle. Izturis made a diving, backhanded stop as the ball skipped on the infield dirt behind second base. He then flipped the ball to Aybar with his glove while lying on the ground. Aybar then threw out Suzuki at first.

MEDICAL WATCH:

RHP Rafael Rodriguez (bruised pitching hand) was hit by a line drive Aug. 24. He didn't pitch Aug. 25-27, and he is day-to-day.

RHP Kelvim Escobar (right shoulder soreness) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to June 6, and he was transferred to the 60-day DL on July 24. He is out indefinitely.

RHP Dustin Moseley (nerve irritation in right elbow) went on the 15-day disabled list April 18, and he was transferred to the 60-day disabled list June 6. He had a setback in mid-May during his rehab at extended spring training. He was cleared to start light throwing in late May but was shut down again because of pain traveling from his neck to his elbow. He is out indefinitely.

RHP Scot Shields (left knee tendinitis) went on the 15-day disabled list May 26. He had season-ending surgery June 16 and was moved to the 60-day DL.
