Angels report: Notes, quotes
--In their past five games, Angels starters Jered Weaver, John Lackey, Joe Saunders, Ervin Santana and Scott Kazmir have allowed just two earned runs (plus two unearned) in 33 1/3 innings.
--With their loss in Seattle on Wednesday, the Angels fell to 18-23 against the AL West this season. They have a winning record against every other division (including interleague play). They are the only division leader with a losing record in their own division.
--Wednesday ended a stretch of 20 consecutive days between off days for the Angels. They went 10-10. After getting Thursday off, they will play another 20 consecutive days and 30 games in the final 31 days of the regular season.
--LHP Scott Kazmir's average of 9.65 strikeouts per nine innings since 2006, going into his start Wednesday, was the highest of any pitcher in that time. He struck out eight in 6 1/3 innings Wednesday.
BY THE NUMBERS
8-7, 3.59 -- LHP Scott Kazmir's career record and ERA against the Boston Red Sox, the Angels' likely first-round playoff opponent.
QUOTE TO NOTE
