--With Jered Weaver's performance Friday, Angels starting pitchers have allowed just five runs (only three earned) in 40 1/3 innings over their past six games. Weaver has allowed just one of those runs in two starts during that stretch.

--OF Bobby Abreu drew two of the Angels' season-high (tying) eight walks Friday. But he was 0-for-2 and has just four hits in his past 33 at-bats and is batting .211 (24-for-114) since the end of July. Abreu was the A.L. Player of the Month in July.

--RHP Scot Shields joined the team in Kansas City. Shields is rehabbing from season-ending surgery on his left knee performed in June. He said he is ahead of schedule in his recovery and should be at full strength for spring training in February. "Doing the physical therapy and everything I've been doing, I feel like, come spring training, I'll be in the best shape of my life," Shields said.

MEDICAL WATCH:

RHP Jason Bulger (right shoulder tightness) has been unavailable since feeling tightness while warming up Aug. 27.

RHP Kelvim Escobar (right shoulder soreness) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to June 6, and he was transferred to the 60-day DL on July 24. He is out indefinitely.

RHP Dustin Moseley (nerve irritation in right elbow) went on the 15-day disabled list April 18, and he was transferred to the 60-day disabled list June 6. He had a setback in mid-May during his rehab at extended spring training. He was cleared to start light throwing in late May but was shut down again because of pain traveling from his neck to his elbow. He is out indefinitely.

RHP Scot Shields (left knee tendinitis) went on the 15-day disabled list May 26. He had season-ending surgery June 16 and was moved to the 60-day DL.
