Angels report: Notes, quotes
--RHP Kevin Jepsen might have emerged as the answer to the Angels' setup problems. After a scoreless eighth inning Tuesday, Jepsen had a 1.50 ERA (five earned runs in 30 innings) with 12 holds in 12 chances since July 1.
--In 30 games through Aug. 28, Angels starting pitchers had a 6.21 ERA. In 10 games since then, however, they have allowed just 14 runs (11 earned) in 67 1/3 innings for an ERA of 1.47. The 10-game stretch includes two starts each from Scott Kazmir, John Lackey, Ervin Santana, Joe Saunders and Jered Weaver.
--RHP Ervin Santana gave up five runs (four earned) in 5 1/3 innings Monday. It was only the second time in the past 12 games that an Angels starter had allowed more than two earned runs.
