--LHP Joe Saunders had a 7.51 ERA over 13 starts before going on the DL in August with a sore shoulder. In four starts since returning, he is 4-0 with a 1.85 ERA.

--Angels manager Mike Scioscia pulled LHP Joe Saunders from his start Friday after seven innings despite the fact that Saunders had thrown only 101 pitches and retired the last 15 batters he faced in a row. "Joe's still rebuilding from the little shoulder issue he had earlier in the year," Scioscia said. "If it's a night we don't have to extend him into the 115-, 120-pitch range, we're not going to do it."

--DH Vladimir Guerrero had a pair of RBI singles in Friday's win. Guerrero has 22 RBI since returning from the DL on Aug. 4. Only Kendry Morales (29) has driven in more for the Angels in that time.

--OF Bobby Abreu drove in runs with a ground out and a double Friday, giving him 93 RBI for the season. If he reaches 100 RBI this season, it will be the seventh consecutive 100-RBI season for him. Only one other player in baseball has had 100 RBIs each of the past seven seasons (Cardinals 1B Albert Pujols).

MEDICAL WATCH:

RHP Kelvim Escobar (right shoulder soreness) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to June 6, and he was transferred to the 60-day DL on July 24. He is out indefinitely.

RHP Dustin Moseley (nerve irritation in right elbow) went on the 15-day disabled list April 18, and he was transferred to the 60-day disabled list June 6. He had a setback in mid-May during his rehab at extended spring training. He was cleared to start light throwing in late May but was shut down again because of pain traveling from his neck to his elbow. He is out indefinitely.

RHP Scot Shields (left knee tendinitis) went on the 15-day disabled list May 26. He had season-ending surgery June 16 and was moved to the 60-day DL.
