--LHP Scott Kazmir is 0-1 in his first three starts with the Angels despite allowing just five runs (four earned) on 13 hits in 19 1/3 innings. The Angels have won two of the three games but Kazmir didn't get the decisions. They have scored a total of six runs in Kazmir's three starts, only four while he was in the games.

--3B Chone Figgins "has been an Iron Man for us," according to manager Mike Scioscia, but he gave the iron man a day off Sunday. It was just the third time in 142 games this season that Figgins has sat out. But there have been signs that he is wearing down recently. He is 8-for-38 (.211) in September and was thrown out in his three previous steal attempts before getting his 40th of the season Saturday.

--C Mike Napoli's slump got deeper with an 0-for-3, two-strikeout Sunday. Napoli has just two hits in his past 35 at-bats, none in his past 14, and no home runs since August 21.

MEDICAL WATCH:

RHP Kelvim Escobar (right shoulder soreness) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to June 6, and he was transferred to the 60-day DL on July 24. He is out indefinitely.

RHP Dustin Moseley (nerve irritation in right elbow) went on the 15-day disabled list April 18, and he was transferred to the 60-day disabled list June 6. He had a setback in mid-May during his rehab at extended spring training. He was cleared to start light throwing in late May but was shut down again because of pain traveling from his neck to his elbow. He is out indefinitely.

RHP Scot Shields (left knee tendinitis) went on the 15-day disabled list May 26. He had season-ending surgery June 16 and was moved to the 60-day DL.
