--OF Torii Hunter was 2-for-4 with a double and a home run Wednesday. That extended his hitting streak to 12 games during which he is batting .354 (17 for 48) with three home runs in the past seven games.

--DH Vladimir Guerrero was hit in the ribs by a pitch from Red Sox RHP Takashi Saito in the seventh inning Wednesday. Guerrero stayed in the game and scored a run that inning but he left the game after that. The preliminary diagnosis is a bruised left ribcage. Guerrero is not expected to play Thursday and will be re-evaluated after that.

--LHP Scott Kazmir is 0-1 in his first three starts with the Angels despite allowing just five runs (four earned) on 13 hits in 19 1/3 innings. The Angels have won two of the three games but Kazmir didn't get the decisions. They have scored a total of six runs in Kazmir's three starts, only four while he was in the games.

MEDICAL WATCH:

DH Vladimir Guerrero (bruised ribs) left the Sept. 16 game after being hit by a pitch. He is not expected to return before Sept. 18.

RHP Kelvim Escobar (right shoulder soreness) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to June 6, and he was transferred to the 60-day DL on July 24. He is out indefinitely.

RHP Dustin Moseley (nerve irritation in right elbow) went on the 15-day disabled list April 18, and he was transferred to the 60-day disabled list June 6. He had a setback in mid-May during his rehab at extended spring training. He was cleared to start light throwing in late May but was shut down again because of pain traveling from his neck to his elbow. He is out indefinitely.

RHP Scot Shields (left knee tendinitis) went on the 15-day disabled list May 26. He had season-ending surgery June 16 and was moved to the 60-day DL.
