--OF Bobby Abreu went hitless again and has just one hit in his last 18 at-bats. But Abreu walked three times in the game, once with the bases loaded to drive in a run.

--1B Kendry Morales was in a 6-for-50 slump with a .188 average in September when manager Mike Scioscia kept him out of the starting lineup Monday. But Morales came in as a pinch-hitter and hit a home run Monday, then went 4-for-4 Tuesday with three singles, a double and a walk.

--3B Chone Figgins was 3-for-5 with his second home run in the last three games. Figgins was batting just .197 (14 for 71) in September going into Tuesday's game. The three-hit game was his first since Aug. 25.

--LHP Scott Kazmir is scheduled to make his fifth start with the Angels on Wednesday against the Yankees. In his first four starts for Los Angeles, Kazmir has allowed only four earned runs in 25 1/3 innings (a 1.42 ERA). But he has just one victory because the Angels have scored a total of six runs while he has been on the mound in those games.

MEDICAL WATCH:

C Mike Napoli (flu-like symptoms) became ill after playing on Sept. 19. He is limited to pinch-hitting for the time being.

RHP Kelvim Escobar (right shoulder soreness) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to June 6, and he was transferred to the 60-day DL on July 24. He is out indefinitely.

RHP Dustin Moseley (nerve irritation in right elbow) went on the 15-day disabled list April 18, and he was transferred to the 60-day disabled list June 6. He had a setback in mid-May during his rehab at extended spring training. He was cleared to start light throwing in late May but was shut down again because of pain traveling from his neck to his elbow. He is out indefinitely.

RHP Scot Shields (left knee tendinitis) went on the 15-day disabled list May 26. He had season-ending surgery June 16 and was moved to the 60-day DL.
