Angels report: Notes, quotes

Notes, quotes · Roster · Inside pitch

--Once the Angels clinched the division title Monday, manager Mike Scioscia began shuffling his starting pitchers to set his rotation for the playoffs. LHP Scott Kazmir and RHP Jered Weaver were scheduled to start Tuesday and Wednesday but have been pushed back. Sean O'Sullivan started Tuesday and Matt Palmer will start Wednesday. Scioscia would not announce his plans beyond that.

--With Tuesday's victory, the Angels have scored 861 runs this season. They need to score six runs in the final five games of the season to break the club record. The 1979 team scored 866 runs.

--RHP Ervin Santana's complete-game shutout Monday ended his string of six winless starts, dating to Aug. 22 in Toronto. It was the second time Santana has been the winning pitcher in the Angels' division-clinching victory. He also finished off the 2005 division title.

BY THE NUMBERS
0 -- Grand slams hit by the Angels this season (the only AL team without one this season). The Angels have not gone through a whole season without a grand slam since 1974.

QUOTE TO NOTE
"We try to fly flags. We don't talk." -- RHP John Lackey, responding to the Texas Rangers' trash-talking earlier this season.
