--There is a 90-percent chance of rain on Saturday, raising the possibility that Game 2 will have to be postponed. One possibility would be to play on Sunday in New York, turn Monday into a travel day (rather than Game 3 in Anaheim) and play the next three days at Angel Stadium. Wednesday is currently scheduled as an off day between Games 4 and 5.
--The Angels lost Game 1 of their previous post-season meetings with the Yankees as well. But they came back to win both times in the best-of-five ALDS format (2002 and 2005).
--The Angels' three errors in Game 1 Friday matched the club's post-season record and matched the most they made in any regular-season game this year (August 9 and Sept. 7). They made just one error in the three-game ALDS sweep of the Red Sox.
BY THE NUMBERS
56-43 -- Angels' record against the Yankees (including playoff victories in 2002 and 2005) in 10 seasons under Mike Scioscia, going into the 2009 ALCS.
QUOTE TO NOTE
"It happens. These guys are not going to be robots out there. It's a mistake. It was ugly. But it happens. And we move on from it." -- Angels manager Mike Scioscia, on his team's defensive lapses in Game 1.
