MEDICAL WATCH:

--RHP Scot Shields (right elbow tightness) left the Sept. 7 game but said he was fine.

--RHP Joel Pineiro (left oblique strain) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to July 26. He played catch Aug. 17 for the first time since suffering the injury, and he threw on flat ground again Aug. 21. He threw a 30-pitch bullpen session Aug. 28 and a 45-pitch session Aug. 30. He threw approximately 60 pitches Sept. 7, and he could be activated by mid-September.

--INF Maicer Izturis (sore right shoulder) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to Aug. 20. It's his third DL stint this season.

--1B Kendry Morales (broken left leg) went on the 60-day disabled list May 30. He had season-ending surgery June 10.

--OF Chris Pettit (right shoulder surgery in March 2010) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 26, and he was transferred to the 60-day DL on April 14. He will miss the entire season.
