--1B Kendrys Morales (fractured left ankle) has stopped taking batting practice for the past week after having his ankle re-examined by Dr. Phil Kwong, the foot-and-ankle specialist at the Kerlan-Jobe Clinic. Morales had been hitting daily since the start of spring training but curtailed that activity after his latest examination. Manager Mike Scioscia said the latest twist in Morales' rehab does not reflect a setback but a focus on getting Morales' "running progression" moving forward.
--Tuesday's game at Fenway Park was the 8,000th game in Angels' franchise history. With the loss, the Angels fell to 3,983-4,017.
--RHP Jered Weaver was selected AL Pitcher of the Month for March/April. Weaver was unbeaten in his first six starts of the season and became only the fourth pitcher in big-league history to go 6-0 in March/April. He finished the month leading the majors in victories, strikeouts (49), ERA (0.99) and innings pitched (49 2/3).
--1B Mark Trumbo cleared the Monster seats for a home run in his first career at-bat at Fenway Park. Trumbo is the first non-Red Sox rookie to homer in his first Fenway at-bat since Oakland's Daric Barton on Sept. 25, 2007.
--INF Maicer Izturis was 2-for-4 with a single and a double in Tuesday's loss. Izturis has reached base in six of nine plate appearances during the first two games of the series in Boston after going hitless in his last 16 at-bats before the series.
