Braves report: Notes, quotes
--3B Chipper Jones went 2-for-4 to raise his major league-leading batting average to .390. Jones leads the team with 23 multi-hit games.
--RF Jeff Francoeur was optioned to Class AA Mississippi after Thursday's game. Francoeur had his hottest bat under manager Phillip Wellman with the M-Braves, and the idea is that this gives Francoeur an opportunity to work on his swing in a far less pressure-packed environment.
--RHP Blaine Boyer has now allowed at least one earned run in three consecutive games -- five earned runs in two innings.
--OF Matt Diaz has begun a rehab assignment with Class AA Mississippi that is expected to last through the All-Star break.
--OF Jason Perry's contract has been purchased from Richmond to fill the roster spot of RF Jeff Francoeur. Perry's start in right field was his major league debut; he tripled in his first at-bat.
BY THE NUMBERS
2-10 -- The Braves' record in the first 12 games in which 3B Chipper Jones did not played this season. They were 4-12 in the first 16 games in which he did not start.
QUOTE TO NOTE
"Everything he throws is funky. He throws a changeup that cuts, he throws a changeup that sinks. He's been awesome." -- C Brian McCann, on RHP Jorge Campillo.
