--3B Chipper Jones knocked in two runs Tuesday -- on a third-inning single and a fifth-inning sacrifice fly -- putting him one RBI shy of 1,500 for his career. He is also one double short of 500. He'll get opportunities to reach those milestones at home this week with five more games on the homestand and manager Fredi Gonzalez wanting to keep the lineup intact to give it time to click.
--RF Jason Heyward hit a 433-foot shot for his third home run of the season. Five of his nine hits on the year have gone for extra bases; besides the homers, he's had a double and a triple.
--RHP Tommy Hanson got his first win of the season by allowing just five hits in seven scoreless innings. Everything was working, and that helped him lower his ERA from 6.00 to 3.38.
--RHP Craig Kimbrel has struck out 13 batters in four appearances in the Braves' first 11 games, and has earned three saves for the effort. The only run he has allowed, Sunday against the Phillies, was unearned.
--RHP Jair Jurrjens (right oblique strain) had an iffy moment or two in his rehab start with Class AAA Gwinnett on Monday night, but he regrouped and got better as the game went on, allowing two runs on four hits over six innings. Just as important, his right oblique felt fine Tuesday. Jurrjens is scheduled to be activated to make his first big-league start of the season Saturday against the Mets.
BY THE NUMBERS
3 -- Saves for RHP Craig Kimbrel, in three save opportunities.
QUOTE TO NOTE
"I've been feeling like just a guy, not part of the team." -- RHP Jair Jurrjens, who is scheduled to make his season debut, finally, Saturday vs. the Mets. He began the season on the disabled list with a right oblique strain.
