--LHP Brian Matusz threw off flat ground at the club's minor league complex in Sarasota, Fla., according to MASNsports.com. Matusz reportedly played catch from 60 feet for about 25 throws and reported no pain. Matusz might rejoin the Orioles after the series in Cleveland to throw a side session for the team's staff.
--SS Robert Andino was in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game before it was rained out. Andino and SS Cesar Izturis will split time while SS J.J. Hardy is out with a strained oblique. With RHP A.J. Burnett set to start Wednesday, Andino -- who is 3-for-8 with a homer against the Yankees hurler -- is likely to get the start.
--LHP Mark Hendrickson would be an ideal candidate for promotion to Baltimore to help stabilize the Orioles bullpen with a veteran presence. However, he's struggled in his role in the Class AAA Norfolk bullpen. In five innings at Norfolk, Hendrickson has allowed seven runs on nine hits -- including three home runs.
--LHP Troy Patton will be placed on Class AAA Norfolk's disabled list with a slight shoulder strain, according to MASNsports.com. Patton is expected to miss just one start. He could be cleared Wednesday to begin long toss Thursday. He was hurt diving for a ball on a bunt Monday night.
--RHP Chorye Spoone was promoted to Class AAA Norfolk to start Tuesday's game. In his Class AAA debut, Spoone allowed three earned runs on seven hits in five innings. The Baltimore-area native was once one of the club's top pitching prospects, but his career has been derailed by arm injuries. Spoone could be a candidate to be a big-league spot starter or long reliever later in 2011.
