--LHP Zach Britton allowed five hits, two walks and one run in quieting a potent Red Sox lineup over six innings Tuesday. He improved to 4-1, becoming the first Baltimore rookie starting pitcher to earn four victories in April. He threw 59 of his 94 pitches for strikes -- including 17 of 26 first-pitch strikes.
--RHP Kevin Gregg was lights out Tuesday. Having struggled through an up-and-down April, Gregg needed just 10 pitches in a 1-2-3 ninth inning, striking out one in the process. The Orioles closer hasn't allowed a hit in his last three outings.
--RHP Jim Johnson struck out four in two shutout innings of relief to bridge the gap between LHP Zach Britton and RHP Kevin Gregg. The setup man earned his fourth hold of the season. He allowed one hit -- his first in his last four innings. Johnson hasn't allowed a run since April 10.
--LHP Brian Matusz is expected to throw a conventional bullpen session Thursday after throwing from the outfield and pitching off the front incline of a mound Tuesday. Matusz said the pain from a strained left intercostal muscle is gone. He was excited after the outing, and he said he feels good.
--RHP Chris Jakubauskas threw a bullpen session Tuesday and is nearing a return. Jackubauskas is on the 15-day disabled list with a groin strain. He may be ready for a rehab assignment after another bullpen session Thursday. He's eligible to return May 2.
