Another strong start pushes Britton to 5-1 · Roster Report · Notes, Quotes

He might be on the verge of phenom status.

Rookie left-hander Zach Britton turned in another quality start Sunday, leaving the game with a 6-1 lead after six solid innings. He improved to 5-1 in the process.

Britton's ERA dipped to 2.63 in a 96-pitch outing. The lone run came on a Brent Lillibridge homer on an 0-2 pitch with none out in the fifth.

Britton has gone at least six innings in every start as a big leaguer.

He's gone exactly six innings in five-of-six starts. He's allowed three homers in 37 2/3 innings pitched.

Sunday, Britton walked three against one strikeout -- the worst ratio of any start he's had thus far.

Originally targeted for Class AAA Norfolk (Va.), he's been the Orioles' best starter thus far.
