Jeremy Guthrie got into the seventh inning Tuesday in a solid outing.
He could have gone nine. It wouldn't have mattered.
Guthrie got little run support yet again, as the White Sox piled on runs late in a 6-2 win.
The Orioles have won just two of Guthrie's starts, and he didn't give up a run in either outing.
He allowed a pair of home runs Monday, which didn't help matters. It was his first outing this season in which he's allowed more than one home run. He also walked two batters for the first time while falling to 1-4 with a 3.00 ERA.
Guthrie didn't pitch poorly. He gave the Orioles a chance to win, though the four earned runs he allowed were the second most he's surrendered this season.
Guthrie isn't a true ace. But he's given the Orioles a chance to win in most of his starts. Unfortunately for the veteran of the staff, the Baltimore offense hasn't given him many chances to win.
