A few weeks ago I made the statement that the Reds bring in somewhere around $120 million a year when all is said and done. One of the regulars on here who always puts his 2 cents worth said it wasn’t true. The following is from a story in The Daily News.

Assuming there is a plan forward with the Reds, I would think it would be based on a group of "core players" to build the team around.
Of course, no one can accurately predict trades, injuries or performance, but if you were the GM, how would you view this team ?

Here is a name we through out to try and get mid season. I am wondering if anyone here thinks it is a good deal.
Mark DeRosa.
He can play all 4 infield positions and came up as a SS with the Braves..
Thoughts?

Always gotta take the performances in the Winter leagues with a grain of salt, but none the less it's good to see Francisco and Jukich playing so well. Del Rosario has continued to throw well also, which I guess is on the of the reasons he earned a spot on the 40-man last week.

With the opening of free agent season, the Reds have made a few moves and alterations to their roster. First of all, Laynce Nix declined an assignment to the minors and elected to become a free agent, so he is gone in all likelihood.

It's pretty slow when the biggest news at the GM meetings was Griffey signing for $3 mil with the Mariners.
Don't get me wrong, I fully appreciate KGJ is a Hall-of Famer, supposedly without any PED help...He had an amazing career.

Ok I know that signing Bay is unrealistic but still this guy would kill in a Reds uniform. If you look at his numbers when playing at Great American Ball park, they are crazy!!!! We need a solid LF (Check), A right handed power bat in the middle of the order (Check), A consistent hitter in the lineup with veteran leadership (Check). This is

Basbeall America has released it's list of the top-10 best prospects for the Reds, and it is rather interesting, because it's not quite the order most would probably expect. It's also interesting because it rates the players for their "tools," i.e, best hitter for power, best outfield arm, etc.

Alonso and Heisey played pretty well, but Ondrusek and Watson really stunk it up. Good to see Mike Leake playing well in his limited opportunities, also.

Ramon is back on a 1 year/$3 mil deal... there is a vesting option for 2011, where if Hernandez plays in 120 games in 2010, he would return on a in 2011 for $3.25 mil. Good deal all the way around.

Dayton Dragons announced Thursday that Ken Griffey (that would be Senior not Junior) was named hitting instructor for the Reds Class A Midwest League team.
It doesn't mean much. I had been led to believe that Griffey was in poor health. I guess not.
