--RHP Justin Masterson pitched his first complete game of the season and the third of his career, a five-hitter, but still got tagged with the 1-0 loss to the White Sox. It was Masterson's first complete game since June 9 of last year, an 11-0 win over Boston. He went just eight innings Wednesday, as the White Sox didn't need to bat in the bottom of the ninth.
--DH Travis Hafner was a late scratch from the starting lineup Wednesday due to soreness on his right side. Hafner felt discomfort in his right rib-cage during batting practice, and he will be re-evaluated Thursday, manager Manny Acta said. Hafner, who ranks among the AL leaders in batting average (.345), on-base percentage (.409) and slugging percentage (.549), is listed as day-to-day.
--1B/OF Shelley Duncan got a start at designated hitter Wednesday, replacing DH Travis Hafner, who was a late scratch due to soreness on his right side. It was Duncan's eighth start at DH. He has also started three games at first base and two in left field.
--RHP Mitch Talbot will make his second rehab start for Class AAA Columbus on Thursday. Talbot, who has been on the disabled list since mid-April with a right elbow strain, allowed two runs in five innings for Columbus on Saturday.
