The Marlins know they'll have to play well in their division if they hope to make a run at the playoffs this year. Their first test is this week.
Florida opens a three-game series in Atlanta on Tuesday followed by three games in Philadelphia.
"After we face Atlanta and Philadelphia, it's going to give us a very good idea of how the division is going to be and any adjustments we have to make pitching-wise, defense and how the bullpen will be managed," manager Edwin Rodriguez said.
The Marlins have lost five straight at Turner Field, where they went 2-7 last year.
Florida is 5-4 after coming from behind to win four games. Those nine games were against the New York Mets, Washington Nationals and Houston Astros.
"We are showing we are capable of coming from behind and winning close games. When we face Atlanta and Philly, those are the types of games we're going to be playing," Rodriguez said.
