Astros report: Notes, quotes
--RHP Chris Sampson will make his 11th start of the season and first in more than a month when he faces the Braves on Saturday. Sampson (3-3, 5.08) last started May 25 against Philadelphia before being moved to the bullpen.
--RHP Roy Oswalt will throw a bullpen session Saturday to test his strained left hip abductor muscle. Oswalt was originally scheduled to start Saturday but will instead start Tuesday in Pittsburgh.
--2B Kaz Matsui did some agility work on the field before Friday's game and appears to be on target to come off the disabled list Tuesday in Pittsburgh. He's been on the disabled list since June 23 with a strained right hamstring.
Matsui has been taking regular batting practice and fielding groundballs and won't have to go on a minor league rehab, manager Cecil Cooper said.
--LHP Wesley Wright worked two innings for the second consecutive game. Wright gave up two hits and one run in his 41st appearance, which leads all rookies and is the most appearances prior to the All-Star break by a left-handed rookie in franchise history.
--SS Miguel Tejada went 0-for-4 with a strikeout and two double plays to drop his average to .282.
"I'm in trouble right now," Tejada said. "It's like nothing is working out for me right now. It looks like the pitchers are making a good pitch to get me. Right now, it's pretty tough to be the same Miguel Tejada I've ever been. I'm going to be there and keep pushing."
BY THE NUMBERS
30 -- By beating the Boston Red Sox on June 28, the Astros franchise has finally earned a victory against every team in baseball. Houston had never before beaten Boston.
QUOTE TO NOTE
"(Ed Wade) started yelling and cussing. I'm sitting there and I said to him very calmly, 'Ed you need to stop yelling (at) me.' Then I stood up and said you better stop yelling at me. I stood up. He continued and was basically yelling and stuff and was like, 'You need to ... look in the mirror.' So at that point I lost my cool and I grabbed him by the neck and threw him to the ground. I jumped on top of him because at that point, I wanted to beat his (behind). Words were exchanged." -- RHP Shawn Chacon, to the Houston Chronicle. Chacon was placed on waivers and cut by the Astros after the incident.
