HOUSTON — Phil Garner didn't need to bring a resume to his interview with the Houston Astros on Saturday.
He just wore his NL championship ring.
Garner met with the Astros to talk about becoming their next manager, just over two years after the franchise fired him. His successor, Cecil Cooper, was fired on Sept. 21,

***Mark McGwire's Five-Step Approach To Hitting*** The Mac is back! Big Mac, Mark McGwire is back with the Cardinals to be their hitting coach. McGwire has always been a fan favorite in St. Louis, but it’s almost a written fact that he took steroids throughout most of his career. If I had to gue

As September approaches, I'd love to believe the Stros have one more magical run, but it appears they'll finish more like they did in 2007 than last year. How did such a pitching rich franchise get so pitching depleted? Houston has given away some prospects in bad trades, but those prospects have never panned out w/ the teams they went to, such as

Leave it to ol' Roy to get me to post about the Astros this season. Oyyyyyy... heh. Anywho, pretty simple poll, just want to see what you folks think about the comments Roy Oswalt made yesterday. While the options won't say as much in these exact words: this i

Thank you for not making another late-season run at winning. We've all been taken on that ride far too many times, and it is nice to get a break from that trip to nowhere. It is always too temping for us all, and we always go along for the ride. We even smile, and cheer, and boast about how great the ride is believing it leads to somewhere. But inevitably, it leads nowhere

Now that Coop has been dropped like a bad habit, I'm curious to hear thoughts on who should be the next skipper. I saw the post about Buck Showalter. He would actually be good for the team based on his winning experience. I wouldn't mind seeing Larry Dierker come back. I thought he did a good job when he was in charge. I especially liked how he handled the pitchi

Welcome eveyone to the Minute Maid "Sugar free" Juice box, home of the Astros. However instead of having a sweet season full of hope for the playoffs, it's featuring the opposite. First our pitching staff with only one real winner (Roy Oswalt

BUCK SHOWALTER!! Yes, if they want to be a contender, he is your man. The team could even deal away CARLOS LEE and BUCK will have them in contention. He's great with a young ball club, has done a great job building a franchise (arizona), and has the ability to get the most out of his players. Call those local talk shows now! DEMAND YOUR BUCK SHOWAL

No disrespect to Miggy, but I would like to see what Tommy Manzella can do. The kid has been up a week and has gotten 2 pinch hit AB's. Tejada has been great for us, but more than likely he isn't gonna be in an Astros uniform next year. Our season is ove

Astros manager has no idea how to handle a pitching staff.Explain why you dont protect your best pitcher. Already at 100 pitches,1 run lead, walk the leadoff man in the 7th,Coop dont be chicken you got to go get him! Astros dont be chicken go get a coach and a thirdbaseman, and a couple starting pithers. Good luck next season !!!
