MEDICAL WATCH:

C Humberto Quintero (concussion) went on the 15-day disabled list July 2.

RHP Roy Oswalt (left hip adductor strain) left his June 30 start after six innings. His next start might be pushed back a day or two.

2B Kaz Matsui (sore right hamstring) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to June 23. He started taking batting practice in late June, and he ran for the first time June 30. He was on target to come off the DL on July 8.

RHP Felipe Paulino (pinched nerve in upper arm) opened the season on the 15-day disabled list. He was shut down from throwing for a month on April 7, and he is unlikely to return before the All-Star break.

6 games left till the break, 1 game under .500 and the Pirates and Nationals on the schedule.....I think this should wii put Houston a few games over .500 by the break and still within 3 games of the division lead...at the least.

I can't bear to watch this loser mis-manage one more game!  We're in the bottom of the 9th, down 2-1 to the Greinke Royals.  The first 2 guys reach base.  The next three hitters are Pudge, Matsui, and a pinch-hitter.  Why the heck wouldn't you bunt with Pudge, get guys to 2nd and 3rd, then let Matsui slap at one to either ...(more)

I'll be in Houston July 19th-20th for business.  Any tips on where I should hang out Sunday night?  I always like to experience the best local places anytime I go somewhere new.

I'll be staying near Minute Maid... a few blocks northwest of there.  I guess that's considered downtown?  I'm not the least bit familiar with Houston.  I just know that the office I'm

Its simple. Defense and pitching win championships. Offense wins all star games. There is no way a guy hitting .220 should be voted into the all star game. Now there are two : Soriano and Rollins. I would feel OK with Rollins at SS because he is great defensively and that's the one defensive position, other than pitcher and catcher, that can control the game. Its not a popularity contest any ...(more)

Astros played well against SD, and are now only 3 games behind milwaukee, and 1 game under .500%.

Whats your take on this team thus far?

Overacheiving?

Inge was batting .274 with 17 home runs. Up next was Magglio Ordonez who is batting .266 with 3 home runs. I think the obvious choice would be to walk Inge. I know that would have put a man on first and second but as you can see it's better than hurling a pitch over the middle of the plate to a guy that is on pace for like 40 home ...(more)

I try not to be negative and get down on my stros, but this season has been troubling at best.  After tonight, however it feels really good to finally have a sincere confidence about where these guys are headed.  We snapped a seven game winning streak against Verlander, and one of the best teams in the American League.  These guys look like they are getting their act together, a ...(more)

Well, the Stros have won 4 series in a row and just went 7-3 at home. With the NL central looking like it might be a slugfest this year I can't imagine Houston not being in the hunt. I know they have looked really bad at times, and they have suffered a lot of injuries to the one position they need the most depth from, pitching....but it looks like they are figuring things out.
