--CF David DeJesus extended his hitting streak to a career-best 16 games with a first-inning single but was promptly erased when 2B Mark Grudzielanek grounded into a double play. DeJesus went 1-for-3 with a walk, raising his average to .321.

--SS Mike Aviles returned to the lineup after being given Thursday off but went 0-for-3 with a strikeout, dropping his average to .283. Aviles is in a 5-for-35 skid.

--OF Joey Gathright missed his second straight game with a sore left shoulder, which he injured Wednesday while trying to make an over-the-wall catch at Baltimore.

--"They're a good team, but we made it real easy on them. We did a lot of things to help out. We just didn't have a good game," said Royals manager Trey Hillman after the Royals made three errors and had just four hits in an 11-2 loss to the Rays.

--2B Mark Grudzielanek, who homered Friday and had four hits Thursday, is just seven hits shy of 2,000.

--IF Jason Smith, who hit .188 but with six home runs in 40 games last season with Kansas City, was named to the Pacific Coast League All-Star team. He is the only representative from the Royals' Class AAA Omaha affiliate.

BY THE NUMBERS
6 -- The Royals' six-game winning streak, which ended June 28 against the Cardinals, was the club's longest since Kansas City began the 2003 season 9-0.

QUOTE TO NOTE
"I could care less about the fans. ... They can boo me all year long. And you know what they are going to motivate me and I'll probably do better if they're booing me everyday. I can promise you that." -- OF/DH Jose Guillen, on Royals fans booing him for jogging to first base. Guillen said he has soreness in his hips and groin muscles and that is why he did run hard to first base.

I usually do this when one of my teams make a deal. Just want to let you know what you are getting in Getz and Fields from A White Sox fan's prespective, even though you probably know alot about them already.

I loved Chris Getz as our starting 2ndbaseman last s

Sporting News Magazine online named Zack Greinke the AL pitcher of the year.  In case you are wondering how subjective that is this award was voted on by a panel of 31 major league General Managers and Assistants.

Ok so now we know that the top talent evaluators of major league baseball think

Things have been awfully quiet around this board lately.  Thought I would post with some random opinions about the Royals as of today.

1.  Billy Butler is beginning to remind me some of George Brett.  Show some patience, hit to the opposite field, pull the ball when the pitcher goofs up.

(POLL)      Well, he's had two full seasons with the Royals now.  Personally, I don't think he's done squat to improve our team whatsoever.  Just kind of wondering what everyone else thinks.

REALLY KC???  REALLY?  Cant't win one game over the weekend, even with Greinke on the mound?  I mean it is the Detroit Tigers fault for letting it get to this point, and hopefully we can take care of business on Tuesday.  But I just can't believe how bad these Royal ...(more)
