--CF David DeJesus extended his hitting streak to a career-best 16 games with a first-inning single but was promptly erased when 2B Mark Grudzielanek grounded into a double play. DeJesus went 1-for-3 with a walk, raising his average to .321.

--SS Mike Aviles returned to the lineup after being given Thursday off but went 0-for-3 with a strikeout, dropping his average to .283. Aviles is in a 5-for-35 skid.

--OF Joey Gathright missed his second straight game with a sore left shoulder, which he injured Wednesday while trying to make an over-the-wall catch at Baltimore.

--"They're a good team, but we made it real easy on them. We did a lot of things to help out. We just didn't have a good game," said Royals manager Trey Hillman after the Royals made three errors and had just four hits in an 11-2 loss to the Rays.

--2B Mark Grudzielanek, who homered Friday and had four hits Thursday, is just seven hits shy of 2,000.

--IF Jason Smith, who hit .188 but with six home runs in 40 games last season with Kansas City, was named to the Pacific Coast League All-Star team. He is the only representative from the Royals' Class AAA Omaha affiliate.

BY THE NUMBERS
6 -- The Royals' six-game winning streak, which ended June 28 against the Cardinals, was the club's longest since Kansas City began the 2003 season 9-0.

QUOTE TO NOTE
"I could care less about the fans. ... They can boo me all year long. And you know what they are going to motivate me and I'll probably do better if they're booing me everyday. I can promise you that." -- OF/DH Jose Guillen, on Royals fans booing him for jogging to first base. Guillen said he has soreness in his hips and groin muscles and that is why he did run hard to first base.

Did anyone see on ESPN recently, the feature about the Mets fielding woes.  We give the Royals a bad time, and well we should, about their lack of fielding prowress, but the Mets tape was hiliarous.  For that size of payroll to have outfielders simply just fall down tryin ...(more)

We all need to do other things. Were all wasting our lives watching these sorry sacks of $H!T play baseball not much better than any of us could. They don't hit, pitch, run the bases or play defense.

Screw em'. I'm sick of it. Even if they don't have the necessary talent they could atleast be mentally prepared right? They could run the bases well and hit cut offs? Wrong. They don't hav

How bad would the Royals be if they traded Zach Greinke off to the Mets Red Sox or Yankees
They would be really bad and i will tell you why

First off, I'm not going to pretend to being capable of being the GM or manager of the Royals.   Dayton Moore assisted John Schuerholz in Atlanta of one of the most impressive runs of divisional titles in the history of the game.   Trey Hillman went to a foreign country, had to learn a bit of their language and culture an ...(more)

The Royals obtained utilityman Ryan P. Freel in a trade with the Cubs for a player to be named later.   Freel is a lifetime .269 hitter with a career OBP of .355.   He's a fast runner with very little power.   He plays second, third and the outfield.  ...(more)

I know that the Royals have a lot more problems than Dave Owen but I'm just wondering if any of you Royals fans have taken notice of this idiot coach at 3rd base. He has been a key problem for why we strand runners constantly and come up with zip. This guy always holds up the runners when he should wave them in and he waves them in when they ...(more)

In year's past it's still been enjoyable for me to watch almost all Royals games even though going in I knew KC had a 45% chance at best of winning.  Why is it so hard this year?  Is it because they were off to such a promising start?

The Royals were 18-11; 3 games ahead of the

Alright guys, is Ponson going to be able to go into Twinkieland and pull off his first win? Out of our current starting rotation, he is definitely our worst option, but I'll admit, he was been able to chew up some innings and keep us in ballgames. Lets hope he doesn't revert to the pattern of following up a decent performance with crumby outing.

Here is to starting May how we fini

The Royals radio announcers always love to throw some stats out to make the games interesting, plus baseball is a game that lends itself to lots of analysis.  The stat that was amazing to me was, this year the team is now 24-14 when they score 4 or more runs.  10 games over .500 when the offense actually produces.

Of cou

A good streak of baseball coming. Call me crazy but I think we are going to finally see some consistency in our bats. If they can establish consistent hitting then the 2nd half of the season has the potential to be relatively entertaining. I'm not going to completely jump off the bridge and say we are going to finish 1st or 2nd place, but if we could finish 3rd I would be ...(more)

Zack did not even get out of the 1st inning with out giving up a run. His ERA should jump from 2.00 to 3.50.
The Royals need to find away to support him and score some runs. He is 10-4.
His ERA vs the Tigers should jump from 0.50 to 1.50

I think we need to try and make a trade for Yunel Escobar.  He is a definite upgrade at short stop.  I am thinking we need to offer Jose Guillen plus paying half of his contract the rest of this year and next year.  With Escobars salary only $425,0 ...(more)

Damn, A recipe for failure if there ever was one !! Still Kansas City dosent seem to back down from these guys historically.Just thought I'd start a thread to see if there was any interest left. lol. The Central isn't so big an bad that we can't claw our way back to respectability. A win here tonight will git us moving in the right direction. See what happens. Go ...(more)

The Royals have a tough game tonight. The Tigers are sending Justin Verlander to the mound. At home, he is 4-0 with a 1.11 ERA. I'd like to be optimistic, and say that the Royals own the Tigers in Detroi ...(more)

I have NEVER seen a team that leaves more runners stranded in scoring position then this team. If we even had a 30% success rate in this department we would be in first place. I get so sick of seeing the box score and finding out that we left 9,10, 11, 12, 13, etc on base. Last night we had the bases loaded with one out and we got nada, zippo! What is Pena still doing in a ...(more)
