MEDICAL WATCH:

--RHP Kanekoa Texeira (strained right elbow) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to Aug. 28.

--RHP Brian Bannister (right rotator cuff tendinitis) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to Aug. 8. He began a rehab assignment with Class AAA Omaha on Aug. 23, and he is likely to rejoin the Royals around Sept. 8.

--RHP Luke Hochevar (strained right elbow) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to June 12. He began a throwing program July 24. He began a rehab assignment with Class AAA Omaha on Aug. 28, and he is likely to rejoin the Royals around Sept. 8.

--RHP Gil Meche (right shoulder bursitis) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to May 26, and he was transferred to the 60-day disabled list July 15. He began a rehab assignment with Class AA Northwest Arkansas on July 21, but he struggled in a July 26 rehab start for Class AAA Omaha. He decided to forgo surgery and will try to come back as a reliever. He began a new rehab assignment with Omaha on Aug. 21. He made his third rehab relief appearance there Aug. 28. He is expected to be activated Sept. 1.

--INF Josh Fields (right hip surgery) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 28, and he was transferred to the 60-day DL on April 26. He began a minor league rehab assignment Aug. 13.

--CF David DeJesus (torn ligament in right thumb) went on the 15-day disabled list July 23. He had season-ending surgery July 26.
