--RHP Brandon Kintzler had an MRI to attempt to find the cause of lingering soreness in his lower triceps area. Kintzler experienced soreness after a relief outing May 4 in Atlanta, and it has not dissipated. He is 1-1 with a 3.68 ERA in nine appearances.
--SS Yuniesky Betancourt had only one hit in his last 21 at-bats entering play Tuesday. Oddly enough, that one hit spoiled a no-hit bid by St. Louis LHP Jaime Garcia in the eighth inning Friday at Busch Stadium. Betancourt matched that hit total by going 1-for-4 Tuesday in the Brewers' 8-6 win over San Diego.
--RHP LaTroy Hawkins, who began the year on the 15-day disabled list while recovering from shoulder surgery, appears to be getting stronger with each relief appearance. After allowing a run in his first game, Hawkins has not allowed a run in six consecutive outings, covering 5 2/3 innings.
--LF Ryan Braun was the National League Player of the Month for April, when he batted .367 with 10 home runs and 23 RBI. As hot as he was that month, he has been that cold in May. Braun collected only three hits in his first 32 at-bats (.094) in May with no RBI before finally going 1-for-3 Tuesday with an RBI.
--LHP Zach Braddock (sleep disorder) threw a bullpen session for the first time since going on the 15-day disabled list last week. Braddock is eligible to come off the DL on Monday but might be sent on minor league rehab at some point, depending on when he is deemed sound enough to pitch.
BY THE NUMBERS
.298 -- The Brewers' batting average at home, the best mark in the major leagues.
QUOTE TO NOTE
"You go out there and you fool around with it a couple times (in workouts) and things like that. But the position of the ball, his only chance was to go behind the back to me. So I was ready for it." -- 2B Rickie Weeks, referring to the behind-the-back glove flip from SS Yuniesky Betancourt on Monday that started a highlight-reel double play in the eighth inning of a 4-3 victory over San Diego.
