Notes, Quotes · Brewers explain why Rivera call-up is the right move · Roster Report

--LHP Mitch Stetter was placed on the 15-day DL, retroactive to Sunday, with left hip labral irritation. The hip had bothered Stetter for several days, but he tried to pitch through it. In 16 outings out of the bullpen, he posted a 5.14 ERA.

--C Mike Rivera, who played for the Brewers from 2006 to 2009, had his contract purchased from Class AAA Nashville. Manager Ron Roenicke had wanted an experienced right-handed bat on his bench since INF/OF Erick Almonte went on the DL a few weeks ago with a concussion. In 18 games with Nashville, the 34-year-old Rivera was batting .250 with three homers and 10 RBI.

--RHP Sean Green was designated for assignment to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for C Mike Rivera to be promoted from Class AAA Nashville. Green was sent to Nashville by the Brewers a couple of weeks ago and posted a 5.87 ERA in four relief appearances. If Green clears waivers, he will stay with the Nashville club, but he has a chance to return to the majors if claimed by another club.

--RF Corey Hart replaced CF Carlos Gomez in the No. 2 spot in the batting order one day after Gomez left eight runners on base. Manager Ron Roenicke said Gomez was getting too anxious when he batted with runners in scoring position and was swinging at too many bad pitches. Gomez was dropped to the eighth spot in the lineup.

--RF Corey Hart, C Jonathan Lucroy and 2B Rickie Weeks all extended their hitting streaks to eight games Tuesday night in Los Angeles. Hart has been slowly getting his stroke together after missing all of spring training with an oblique strain.

.211 -- The Brewers' batting average with runners in scoring position on the road this season.

"We're not playing that well on the road. We're not swinging the bats that well, whether it's runners in scoring position or not. We're not stringing together a lot of good at-bats in a row." -- Manager Ron Roenicke, after a 3-0 loss Tuesday night in Los Angeles.
