MEDICAL WATCH:

RHP Duaner Sanchez (bruised left knee) was hit by a line drive on July 1 and might not pitch again until July 4.

2B Luis Castillo (sore left thigh) missed the July 1-2 games and was placed on the disabled list July 3.

OF Trot Nixon (strained left groin) went on the 15-day disabled list June 29.

LF Moises Alou (strained left calf) went on the 15-day disabled list May 22. He was activated June 10 but left that day's game with stiffness in the calf. He went back on the DL retroactive to June 11. He began a rehab assignment in the rookie-level Gulf Coast League on July 1, but rain then kept him off the field and his return to the Mets was still up in the air.

RHP Matt Wise (right shoulder weakness) went on the 15-day disabled list May 27. The Mets had no timetable for his return as of mid-June.

LF Angel Pagan (tightness in left shoulder) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to May 12. He was at the club's spring training complex in Port St. Lucie, Fla., in mid-June, but he couldn't hit from the right side and hadn't been cleared to play in games.

LHP Jason Vargas (hip) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 21, and he had surgery March 24. As of mid-June, he was rehabbing at the club's spring training complex in Port St. Lucie, Fla. The Mets had no timetable for his return.

RHP Orlando Hernandez (right foot surgery in October 2007) opened the season on the 15-day disabled list. He began a rehab assignment with Class A St. Lucie on April 3, but he was shut down indefinitely on April 8. As of late June, he was throwing off a mound in Florida, but the Mets still had no timetable for his return.

RHP Ambiorix Burgos (Tommy John surgery in August 2007) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 21. He likely will miss the entire season.

I do not know about everyone else and I am sure you will agree, but I cannot watch our beloved Mets, as banged up as they may be, not show up to the ballpark and get blown out.  At least try to score runs.  They just look clueless out there.  Someone besides Santana and KRod needs to pitch decent.  Parnell was good until ...(more)

After losing 8-0 and almost letting the next game slip away, the Mets held on.  We are playing the Dodgers and they are pretty good.  We could have folded the tents and gone home.  I am not going to get involved with facts and figures this time, I am just happy we w ...(more)

this may be the worst Mets team ever assembled.  and that does not include the injuries that have piled up.  omar minaya has put together the softest, heartless, lack of clutch team money could buy.  for the past 3 years he has continued to plug the roster with older players, pitchers beyond their prime, and an over abunda ...(more)

I know a lot of people are bashing on Minaya now. Some are certainly justified and some I think are either overstated or just plain short-sighted. One of the lightening rods from this off season was that we didn't sign Hudson - he went with Cora instead. Although most people thought (and still continue to think) that was a mistake, there were a few trumpeting bringing in a guy who could play both ...(more)

They should have played Gloria Gaynor's hit "I Will Survive" tonight. They held on, turning a DP on a terrific clutch hitter.

Tonight was overall pretty good. Let's take a look...

So Manuel has Fernando Tatis playing 1B tonight!?!?!

There is no greater Tatis lover out there than I, but I have to question why he isn't relegated solely to a pinch hitting role.  His bat is inconsistent, he had DP-itis for awhile and he just isn't hitting.

Starting lineups for the time being

The following is addressing the current GM of the Mets and my feelings about this team and his leadership. I am so utterly disgusted, I
need to say this and not have it in dribs and drabs over this terrific Mets site. It's obvious from my posts in virtually every thread, that I believe Omar must go if this team comes up short.  ...(more)

By no surprise, I'm talking about the Mets offense.  22 consecutive scoreless innings, that's almost 2.5 games without scoring a single run.  Can someone say "pathetic".  During those 22 innings, the mets have managed 10 hits, all singles.

During this 4 game losing streak, the Mets have hit. 183 an

There's been a lot of dialogue on this board regarding the Mets and if they're done.  Over the past couple months I've taken the glass half empty mindset and there are some guys who have felt the same way as me, while others took the glass half full mindset.  I think after the ...(more)

That's the state of this offense. The Phillies pitchers look like Cy Young winners against this line-up. 2 losses, 3 runs and only Santana spares them another humiliating sweep. 39-40, 3 back and in 4th place. Offensive.

I'm going to give you 22 reasons. I'll start by simply receiting last night's Philies-Reds score, which happened to be 22-1.

(1)The Phillies scored 22 runs against a team who was sending to the mound a guy with the 3rd lowest ERA in baseball.
(2)It was 10-0 after 1 inning, 16-0 after 4 innings.
(3)They scored 6 r
