MEDICAL WATCH:

RHP Joba Chamberlain (right shoulder stiffness) left the Aug. 4 game and underwent an MRI. He will miss at least one start, and the team is expected to be very conservative with him.

RHP Mariano Rivera (back spasms) was unavailable Aug. 3-4.

LF Xavier Nady (sore right quadriceps) sat out on Aug. 1 but returned to play on Aug. 2.

OF Hideki Matsui (sore left knee) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to June 24. He might need season-ending surgery, but he hit off a tee again July 28 in an effort to prove that he can rehab the injury.

RHP Chien-Ming Wang (Lisfranc ligament sprain in right foot) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to June 16. He had his cast removed July 29, but manager Joe Girardi said it would be at least six weeks before Wang could be back.

RHP Phil Hughes (right rib stress fracture) went on the 15-day disabled list April 30. He threw off a mound for the first time since the injury on July 12, and he began a minor league rehab assignment July 29.

RHP Carl Pavano (Tommy John surgery in June 2007) opened the season on the 60-day disabled list. He began a minor league rehab assignment July 29.

RHP Andrew Brackman (Tommy John surgery in August 2007) opened the season on the 60-day disabled list. He will rehab all summer but could impact the starting rotation in 2009.

RHP Humberto Sanchez (Tommy John surgery in April 2007) opened the season on the 60-day disabled list.

C Jorge Posada (sore right shoulder) went on the 15-day disabled list July 21. He had season-ending surgery July 30.

RHP Jonathan Albaladejo (stress fracture in right elbow) went on the 15-day disabled list May 9, and he was transferred to the 60-day DL on June 18. He is out for the season.

I'm not one to be a conspiracy theorist about umpires but another game and more blown games against the Yankees. This seems to happen so often without us getting favorable calls. There was, of course, the play on Figgins at 2nd base where he was clearly out and was called safe, and that would have completely changed what was a 4 run inning. ...(more)

I am not sure what i think of getting Hinske.  The primary cause of doubt for me is the simple fact that we have plenty of bats on the roster as is.  Now, with Texeira and A-Rod coming around, additional bats are even less needed than they were before.  Sure, losing Nady for the year hurts, but we have had enough depth to fill in to this point anyway.  It really seems that we s ...(more)

This is some food for thought for all off the Yankee GM's on this page. I got this from ESPN.
I say we take a shot and go after this kid if we can, He is young and still developing his pitches.

Aroldis Chapman, a Cuban considered by many scouts to be the best left-handed pitching prospect in the world, has defected from the national team, several sources have confirmed to ESPN ...(more)

I'm forced to ask myself this after another pathetic start from Joba. Throw strikes. It really is that simple.

Hughes has appeared to learn that lesson. He's dominating right now. Joba is getting dominated. I love Joba, but if a team comes calling with a solid SP and a decent prospect or 2, I'm listening.

GM Mark Shapiro, after announcing Wedge and his coaching staff would keep their jobs through the season, said that he'll be looking for pitching from any trade he makes.

"Clearly, we are looking for pitching. . . . young pitching," he said. "Starting pitching, relief pitching, any way we can get it. We're looking for guys we can ...(more)

Jeter may not deserve to start the All-Star game, but deserves to be in it.

Texiera vs. Youkilis (vs. Morneau) is at least worth arguing - there are pretty good reasons for any of that trio to start, and at least they're all in it.

But how have I not seen Robinson Cano being defended everywhere by Yankee

Ah man what can you say about our bullpen. Aceves did ok today, it's kinda hard to change your style on the go. He has been relieving all year and he was asked by the team to start. His command was a little off and he seemed out of ryhthm but, I will take it he gave us 3 1/3 innings then our great bullpen took over. Robertson came in and struggled, he walked three and struck out two in his inning. ...(more)

I am so sick of ransom on this team. He can not field. When he makes an error the other teams scores because of that error.

The error in todays game made me realize how much better pena is then ransom. Maybe the yankee manegment sees someting in ransom that I don't see?

So, the Jays are going to "listen" to offers for Doc.  Just out of fun, if you could play Cashman for a day and try to make the trade, whom would you dangle.  For me, the untouchables are Montero, A-Jax, and Hughes.  I would consider Joba as part of the package and even Banuelos and DJ Mitchell.  So, if you had the chance to have a starting 3 of CC, Doc, and AJ, what would you ...(more)

Why is Jose Aceves starting in the rotation?
He is one of the most important parts of out bullpen right now. Bullpens are used everyday, unles su have roy halladaoy on your team, and aceves pitches about 3 or 4 times a week. Phenominally, i might add.
