Freddy Sanchez will be the Pirates' lone representative at Tuesday's All-Star Game in St. Louis. However, there is a question of whether Sanchez will still be with the Pirates by then.

Numerous teams have made inquiries about Sanchez in recent days and the Pirates have told suitors they are willing to trade him.

Colorado reportedly has become serious about its pursuit of Sanchez in recent days. The Pirates want a package of prospects that includes Class AAA Colorado Springs second baseman Eric Young Jr., a 24-year-old who is hitting .289 with three home runs, 26 RBIs, 47 stolen bases and a .377 on-base percentage in 80 games.

Minnesota and San Francisco are also interested in Sanchez, and there are indications that other teams might be involved, too.

Sanchez, 31, is hitting .316 with six home runs and 33 RBIs in 74 games this season. He is expected to return to the Pirates' lineup Friday in the opener of a three-game series at Philadelphia after missing the last six games with tightness in his lower back.

I started this as a simple response to a Freddy Sanchez trade thread, but I began ranting and venting.

Okay, unless the return is substantial I might be done with the Buccos.  I have been a Pirate fan for life and I am 30 years old.  I didn't really care for the McClouth trade because I felt like&nb

Since many of you have said that you're about the age that grew up with the winning 1990-92 Bucco teams, I thought we should maybe have a reminder about how those teams came to be. I think its quite relevant to what is going on right now.

Let's roll back to 1985, welcome to the job of rebuilding a once proud franchise new GM Syd Thrift. Your best players are Tony Pena, Johnny Ray, Bill

So when will Lastings join the Major League Team? Where in the outfield will he play? How often will he play? Full time? Platoon? If it is a platoon with who? Here is my guess. He will join the team obviously when he is recovered from his injury. My guess he should be ready after the break. I believe he will be for the most part the every day Leftfielder and not platooning. If I were the manager I ...(more)

Seems there is a lot of interest in Sanchez and that we should get a high quality return.  Rumors include Jonathan Sanchez of Giants.  He's a great talent but another starting pitcher.  Another rumor is Colorado's Ca ...(more)

There have been a lot of trade rumors surrounding the Pirates.  And honestly, I'm a little bit surprised.  I was already aware we were trying to move Adam LaRoche at some point during the season.  But now, I hear we are trying to move Sanchez and Grabow.  It's not that I'm a huge Grabow fan, but, if Grabow goes, we won't ...(more)

Draft is over, we might see a huge push to sign many of our high upside picks on the next few weeks, if un able to sign most of those players then you will see our team break the bank going after Miguel Sano in the international draft.  That leaves the trade market.  So far the usual suspect are not doing enough to solicit an average return, Adam LaRoche is stinking up the joint with his ...(more)

DK is reporting that the push is on to trade Freddy and according to an inside source of mine they were told to be expecting a press release soon. Could NH finally start a bidding war between 6 or 7 teams for Freddy? DK reports that Colorado and SF are definately in, but 4 or 5 teams are also interested. You have to think that LAA and FLA are interested. Maybe this will be the deal where ...(more)

Yes, Baseball. At least that is what I thought until I found out that tonights game will not be televised...

The culprits...

First and foremost, FOX...Thank  you so much for your stupid rules about a "window" for when starting times can overlap the National game, which of course, I am sure is the Yankee

Alright. I have had enough. I am sick and tired of hearing about how our organization sucks and we aren't going anywhere. I am sick of seeing people write over and over again that we are never going anywhere with these trades. I am tired of hearing that we are getting nothing in return for these players. Maybe this will help ease your minds. ...(more)

Pirates got shut out again  and seem to be running out of steam losing 2 out of 3 to the Astros. I think they can use the All Star break to get rejuvenated for the 2nd half of the season. The bats have really gone silent as of late and getting some power hitting has to be the ...(more)

Nyjer and Sean Burnett for Milledge and Joel Hanrahan.

It always seemed like Nyjer for Lastings straight up was too good to be true, although this isn't much different. NH basically swaps Burnett, a soft-tosser who they have never liked, for Hanrahan,

Now, I don't want to put a whole lot of stock into it, considering that the guy is just now getting to play baseball again after a long time off....but is anyone else at least a little bit concerned that he has yet to record a hit during this rehab assignment?
