Padres report: Notes, quotes
--RHP Cha Seung Baek pitched a no-hitter for 5 1/3 innings and held the Diamondbacks scoreless for six innings Friday night. Baek retired 15 straight between Orlando Hudson's two-out walk in the first and Stephen Drew's double in the sixth. Baek picked up the Padres first win by a starting pitcher since June 12.
--RF Brian Giles had to come out of Friday night's game after tweaking his strained right hamstring on a slide into third. Giles is 7-for-17 in the first four games of the Padres' road trip.
--LF Chase Headley Friday night extended his hitting streak to nine straight games, which is the longest this season by a National League rookie. Headley (9-for-35) has at exactly one hit in every game.
--RHP Heath Bell stranded the tying run on second over two outs in the seventh and worked a scoreless eighth. Bell's ERA of 2.09 the lowest in the league for relievers with more than 40 appearances.
--1B Adrian Gonzalez is only 6-for-34 in his last nine games with three RBI.
BY THE NUMBERS
.428 -- The Padres' all-time winning percentage in interleague play (83-111), ahead of only Pittsburgh (.376) among major league teams.
