--RHP Mat Latos allowed three runs on four hits over six innings Monday night in his injury-delayed season debut. Latos was activated from the 15-day disabled earlier in the day after being out with bursitis in his shoulder. His velocity peaked at 97 mph Monday with his fastball usually in the 94-96 range. All three runs came on homers hit by Cincinnati's Jonny Gomes and Chris Heisey (two-run game winner in the top of the fifth).
--LHP Wade LeBlanc was returned to Class AAA Tucson on Monday morning, less than 24 hours after he had been recalled to address a shortage in the Padres bullpen following the 11-inning, rain-suspended game Friday/Saturday. RHP Mat Latos took LeBlanc's spot on the roster.
--RF Will Venable went 2-for-3 Monday night after entering the game with a .120 average. He is hitting .400 (14-for-35) lifetime against the Reds.
--C Nick Hundley went 0-for-3 Monday to see his seven-game hitting streak snapped. The seven-game streak was the second longest of Hundley's career behind a pair of nine-game streaks.
--After the Dodgers stole 10 bases in the three-game weekend series, C Nick Hundley and backup C Rob Johnson were out early Monday afternoon working with former catcher Brad Ausmus on throws to second. Hundley threw out one of the two Reds who ran Monday night.
