--SS Jason Bartlett is 5-for-12 in his last three starts, raising his batting average from .118 to .196.

--OF Chris Denorfia is 5-for-11 with a homer in his last five games to raise his average from .133 to .269. Denorfia has at least temporarily moved into a platoon in right field with slumping Will Venable.

--1B Brad Hawpe has 15 strikeouts in 37 at-bats as a Padre and is hitting only .135. He has started only two of the Padres' past six games at first base.

--2B Orlando Hudson is 0-for-7 in two starts since his 11-game hitting streak ended Saturday.

--Cs Nick Hundley and Rob Johnson will each catch one game Wednesday in Chicago, according to manager Bud Black. Hundley has started 13 of the team's first 16 games.
