Hudson might be headed to DL

The Sports Xchange
Notes, Quotes · Hudson might be headed to DL · Roster Report

Second baseman Orlando Hudson suffered what the Padres described as a "mild" right hamstring strain Tuesday night while approaching second base on a first-inning double.

But Hudson could be headed to the disabled list.

The clue: Minutes after Hudson limped off the Petco Park field under his own power, Triple-A second baseman Logan Forsythe was removed from Tucson's game at Tacoma.

"Let's not jump the gun," said Padres manager Bud Black when asked if Hudson was headed for the disabled list. "Let's see how it sets up tomorrow and during Thursday's off day."

Hudson, 33, is hitting .245. But on Monday, in the Padres' 29th game, Hudson equaled his career high by stealing his 10th base of the season. He also stole 10 bases in 2010 and 2007.

Forsythe, 24, was the 46th overall pick of the 2008 draft. He is hitting .298 with four homers and 15 RBI for Tucson, although he has 27 strikeouts in 84 at-bats and has committed seven errors.
