Shaky outfield defense troubles Mariners again · Roster Report · Notes, Quotes

--LHP Erik Bedard made his first start in 20 months Monday at Texas. Bedard, who last appeared in a big league game on July 25, 2009, has had three shoulder surgeries in the last three seasons. "It's been a while," Bedard said. "I was glad to be back on the mound." He took the loss Monday, allowing five runs (three earned) in five innings.

--RF Ichiro Suzuki made a rare error on a line drive hit directly at him in the second inning Monday. The 10-time Gold Glove winner's misplay led to two unearned runs.

--LF Milton Bradley had three hits and pushed his batting average to .353. He had a hustle double that led to a run in the eighth inning.

--RHP Michael Pineda makes his first big-league start Tuesday in Texas. He jumped from Class AA West Tenn to Class AAA Tacoma last year, then made the team with a big spring this year. He will be the third Seattle rookie pitcher to debut in three days, RHP Josh Lueke and RHP Tom Wilhelmsen, who made their bows Sunday in Oakland.

--1B Justin Smoak, who had two more hits Monday, has hit in every game this year. Dating back to the 2010 season, he's hit in 14 consecutive games.

7-16 -- Seattle's record in the last 23 road games against the Rangers.

"I was really pleased with (LHP Erik) Bedard tonight, but we made some mistakes behind him." -- Manager Eric Wedge, after Seattle's 6-4 loss at Texas on Monday.
