Almost four relatively unproductive weeks into the season, the veteran designated hitter lost it.
But there are signs that things may be turning around.
Cust has been the cleanup hitter in three of the last four games. Before Wednesday's game, manager Eric Wedge said that nothing had been decided, adding, "but we have to get some production out of that spot."
Wish granted. Cust singled in the first inning Wednesday against the Angels and again in the third inning, both times driving in a run. In his start Monday as the cleanup hitter, Cust delivered an RBI double.
It marked the first time this year that Cust, who is still homerless one-fourth of the way through the season, had driven in more than one run in a game.
