--CF Aaron Rowand had three hits and two RBI, his second straight multiple-hit game. He hit just .225 in June after a .343 May but seems to have regained his groove. He has five hits in two games.

--INF Travis Denker had one at-bat against his former team. Denker, acquired from the Dodgers last summer in the trade that sent 1B Mark Sweeney to L.A., grounded out as a pinch-hitter in the seventh inning.

--LHP Jonathan Sanchez was heading for his ninth victory and seventh in eight starts. He exited after five innings leading 5-3, but the Dodgers rallied as the bullpen and defense crumbled. It's partly Sanchez's fault. He was not efficient and threw 110 pitches, prompting a premature exit.

--LHP Barry Zito hasn't won consecutive starts this year. For that matter, he hasn't won two of three starts. He could do that if he beats the Dodgers Saturday. Zito won at Cleveland on June 25 but lost to the Cubs June 30. Now he'll bring his 3-12 record against the Dodgers, the team he faced in his season debut, his first loss.

--Pitching coach Dave Righetti was acknowledged for the 25th anniversary of his Fourth of July no-hitter against Boston in 1983. The stadium scoreboard showed highlights of Rags' no-no, from his Yankee days.

BY THE NUMBERS
8-0 -- RHP Tim Lincecum's record in starts after Giants losses, through June 30.

QUOTE TO NOTE
"It was everything I thought it would be, except for not throwing strike one (to my first hitter). I always imagined I'd paint it." -- Reliever Sergio Romo, who made his big-league debut in Cleveland and threw a perfect inning.

Bengie Molina is not the option at the clean up sopt in the Giants batting order. there is no debating that. As a season wears on a catcher is expected to decline at the plate, and most teams are just happy to have their full time catcher keep his D in top form for the playo ...(more)

I have to say that I am pleased that the Giants have a solid second baseman for the next two years.  As much as you may want to detract the signing of Sanchez, there are a couple of things that are perfectly clear.  One, the Giants were able to toss out his 8 million dollar option for one year, and get him for the next two years at ...(more)

I am praying that MLB does not suspend Lincecum for any length of time at the start of the 2010 season.  Assuming the schedule is in place and no changes will be made...I have already planned my first vacation of next year to drive down to Houston (I live in Fort Worth) to watch the Giants and ...(more)

San Francisco played so good against Milwaukee, we expected them to go into San Diego and split at least and then the nightmare:

The Boston Globe is reporting that the Giants may make a push to sign Jason Bay.  They also throw out the idea that Bay is a "West Coast" guy and may want to get back to the left coast.  Final comment is that the ...(more)

Well Giants fans, what kind of suspension will our boy get for burning the "crooked bush."   It is definatly not a performance enhancer and is just about legal in alot of states now so lets give an honest opinion on how much time he gets from baseball.

I'll put the over under at 20 games to start the seaso

LOL. I guess if you want to dig yourself a deep grave you cant ever get out of allotting 2 years to do it will do the trick. Giving a 1 year deal would give the Giants flexibility to get rid of the lot of them, in the event the Giants become the team they really are and come back to earth. People on the market that are better.....Kevin ...(more)
