MEDICAL WATCH:

OF/1B Dan Ortmeier (broken left middle finger) went on the 15-day disabled list May 30. He swung a bat for the first time June 21 and was scheduled to begin a rehab assignment July 6.

RHP Merkin Valdez (right elbow strain) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to May 13. He threw off a mound May 27. He began a rehab assignment in early June, and he was re-injured June 7 while pitching for Class AAA Fresno.

OF Dave Roberts (torn meniscus in left knee) went on the 15-day disabled list April 8. He had surgery April 12, and he might return shortly after the All-Star break.

INF Kevin Frandsen (ruptured left Achilles tendon) suffered the injury March 24, and he had season-ending surgery March 29. He opened the season on the 15-day disabled list, and he was transferred to the 60-day DL on May 15.

LHP Noah Lowry (left arm surgery on March 7) opened the season on the 15-day disabled list, and he was transferred to the 60-day DL on May 30. He was told April 30 to stop rehabbing, and he hadn't resumed throwing as of early June. Manager Bruce Bochy said June 4 that there's a chance Lowry could miss the entire season.
